Federal response

Remember the rule of the thumb here in the chasm...everything happens for a reason. And, it has to get worse before it can get better in some cases. That's why its a fine fine balance you have to weigh out between the duality. Don't get over critical - it's wasted energy, and don't go with the blinders on "ah look at the flower isn't pretty? Don't mind those dead bodies over there, its going to get better" Watch as this tragedy comes good-- thats what the labor pains of the Great Emergence will bring! And on the other side? Never forget- it's BETTER than anything you can imagine.

Political analysts said that the disaster and the questions raised about the federal response opened political fissures and fault lines that probably would have long-term repercussions.

"You have Democrats and even some Republicans running for cover and criticizing Bush," said David Bositis, senior policy analyst at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a Washington think tank. "There is a substantial chance that it will carry over into the 2006 elections" if the relief efforts do not improve and reconstruction projects falter.
